🦖 Pyromane — The Fire Cat
The Pyromane is not just another predator — it is a unique support creature from the ARK Fantastic Tames DLC, combining the traits of a fiery feline with those of a functional tool. It will become a bright and practical addition to any collection.
The Pyromane is not a real prehistoric animal. It is a fantasy creature added to ARK: Survival Ascended through the paid ARK Fantastic Tames — Pyromane expansion. Its design is inspired by the Phoenix from Scorched Earth — a large cat whose body is engulfed in flames. There is no scientific name in-game, as it is a fictional species.
Unique Mechanics:
🔥 Fire Gauge — fills when killing creatures and depletes when entering water.
🩸 Bite (LMB) — the bite deals 20 damage and sets the target on fire (up to 10 stacks).
🦘 Flame Leap (RMB) — a fiery dash-jump that damages everything in its path (5-second cooldown).
🔥 Flame Trail (Hold RMB) — leaves a fiery trail that ignites enemies.
💥 Flame Boost (Ctrl+LMB) — increases damage by 50% at the cost of the fire gauge.
🔄 Flame Absorb (Ctrl+RMB) — absorbs fire from nearby sources, filling the gauge.
🐱 Swap to Shoulder Pet (Ctrl+C) — transforms into a shoulder pet.
Passive Abilities:
🍖 Cooking — meat and fish in its inventory are cooked as if on a campfire, then turned into jerky without fuel.
🔥 Fuel — powers campfires, torches, and forges within range (configurable via the radial menu; consumes the Food stat).
🛡️ Cuddled by Fire (on shoulder) — significantly increases resistance to cold and heat.
🛡️ Wreathed in Fire (when ridden) — grants exceptional heat resistance, allowing you to walk on lava without taking damage.
💧 Doused (in water) — loses the ability to Flame Leap and becomes weakened, but the effect wears off 5 seconds after leaving the water.
Taming:
The Pyromane is a passive tame with a unique «dousing» mechanic:
- Find a Pyromane — on The Center (northeastern volcanic island) or Scorched Earth (in the Wyvern Trench)
- Deal damage — use a shotgun to remove about 50% of its health
- Douse the fire — lure it into water or wait for rain to apply Doused
- Mount it — after it roars, you will be able to ride the Pyromane
- Relight the fire — kill creatures while mounted and use Flame Absorb (Ctrl+RMB) to absorb fire and fill the taming gauge
- Beat the timer — you have 20–30 seconds to find a target and absorb fire, or you will be thrown off
⚠️ Important: On Scorched Earth there is no water near the spawn point — use a Wyvern to move the Pyromane to the nearest water source. Pyromanes are susceptible to Bola.
Saddle: Not required — a tamed Pyromane is ready to use immediately.
Spawn Locations:
- The Center — northeastern volcanic island (Lava Island), especially near craters and the red obelisk
- Scorched Earth — Wyvern Trench (World Scar)
- Ragnarok — near shores where the ground is black with lava
