🦖 Karkinos — The Giant Crab
The Karkinos is not just another creature — it is a legendary giant crab from the Aberration expansion that will become an incredibly useful and tactical addition to any collection. In ARK, it is known as one of the best «transporters» and «mobile taming cages,» making it unique for both PvP and PvE.
Unique Mechanics:
🦀 Two Claws — the core feature. The Karkinos can grab creatures and players with both claws simultaneously. Left and right click control the corresponding claw independently.
🎯 Rider Grab — can drag an enemy off their mount and hold them in its claw, making it the king of PvP control.
🦘 Powerful Jump — capable of high jumps, allowing it to traverse Aberration’s difficult terrain.
🛡️ Radiation Resistance — immune to radiation, making it ideal for exploring Aberration’s dangerous zones.
🏊 Underwater Walker — has no oxygen gauge, can walk along the bottom and jump vertically in water.
🎒 Mobile Prison — can hold a creature while the rider calmly fires tranquilizers from its back (PvP).
Taming:
The Karkinos has an extremely difficult tame, as it is immune to tranquilizers:
- Knockout via Catapult or Cannon — shoot only the body; hits to the limbs deal damage, not torpidity
- Catapult is recommended — it does not reduce taming effectiveness and has less chance of killing the creature, unlike the Cannon
- Trap — use a Large Bear Trap or build a Y-shaped trap from foundations and doorframes
- ⚠️ Important: A high-level Karkinos may require 12–16 boulders from a catapult. Do not use a rocket launcher — it deals damage, not torpidity.
