🦖 Basilisk — The Underground Assassin
The Basilisk is not a real dinosaur in the traditional sense. It is a mythical creature rooted in Pliny the Elder’s ancient Roman «Natural History» and medieval bestiaries. In ARK, its image was reimagined as a giant serpent with a dragon-like skull, borrowed from the Aberration expansion.
In ARK, the developers took this name and created a giant serpent with dragon-like features. According to the dossier, the in-game Basilisk is twice the size of a Titanoboa, and its skull resembles a dragon’s more than a snake’s. Its scientific name in-game is Serpens Regulus, meaning «king of serpents.»
Features:
🕳️ Burrowing Underground — the core mechanic. The Basilisk can fully burrow into the ground and wait in ambush for prey. It can only be detected by its forked tail sticking out of the ground.
🐍 Deadly Venom — its bite deals powerful venom damage, capable of killing even a player in Tek armor if careless.
💧 Infinite Oxygen — it doesn’t drown and cannot drown.
⛰️ 75% Stone Weight Reduction — makes it valuable for transporting heavy loads, especially in caves.
